I chose Sweeney Todd as one of my focus films because it is a musical and the way Burton has directed the songs means he can be more obvious with how the characters are feeling and what they are feeling towards eachother.

In the song 'My friends' Burton has Bonham-Carter (Mrs Lovett) in the shadows of Depp (Sweeney Todd) and always standing behind him which shows he has the power in their relationship, 'It's a tragic love story'1. Although Mrs. Lovett is smart Bonham-Carter uses a soft high voice and singing voice which you can hear in 'My Friends'.
