Planet of the apes

The two main female roles Ari (Helena Bonham-Carter) and Daena (Estella Warren) Are very different but still working together for the same purpose.

Ari
One of the first shots of her is just her looking out, in an attempt to make an ape look attractive. But apart from that shot she isn't really portrayed in a sexual way. But just defying of her dad; Helena Bonham-Carter plays her as a good willed character but you don't she her devotion until she takes buys Leo and Daena. Although Bonham-Carter doesn't play her with any disbelief to her cause (humans and apes are equal) but you do feel that she has put some doubt in it until they get to the ship and when she gets branded. Burton uses the brand as a symbol to show they are equal.

Daena
She is a strong character who from the beginning would do anything for her family. However her strong character is underminded by the fact that although she is wild and wouldn't have access to beauty treatments she still manages to have perfect hair where as other wild humans don't.  Another thing that makes her stand out is that she wears a low cut and short piece of material. Due to the fact that she doesn't say much it is hard to see how strong willed she when she just runs in a small piece of material.

Ari's character is more like Burtons later female roles and is very strong and doesn't actually need Leo's help but is helping him. Daena on the other hand does need his help. Towards the end when Leo is leaving he kisses Ari, which makes sense as they were very close through out the film. But there is also a kiss between Daena and Leo which just makes her character look more weak as though maybe she wasn't helping him for her family but  just for him.
